New Exhibition: Women in the Fens

On Thursday 2nd June as part of events to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, a new exhibition will open at the Farmland Museum and Denny Abbey to showcase the lives of Fenland Women.

Fenland histories often focus on drainage and farming, which have traditionally been viewed as men’s work. This exhibition looks at what Fenland life was like for women: from working in the fields, to motherhood and crafts. Inspired by the Platinum Jubilee and remarkable life of Queen Elizabeth II, the artefacts within this display date from across the 20th Century, presenting some very different experiences from those of our monarch.

The museum will also be running Jubilee-themed craft activities and a trail for children on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd June, with our popular traditional outdoor games available for all the family to have a go!

The Docky Box cafe team will be baking up a storm, with a wide selection of Best of British bakes available to enjoy.
